Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage

Last night my two girlfriends and I went to see Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage at the Opera House in Boston, MA. I am a huge dirty dancing fan! I can't even begin to tell you how many times have the seen the movie. You can imagine how excited I was to see it live! Boy was I let down. The music was amazing, the effects and scenery were fantastic, the dancing was wonderful BUT the acting was horrible! There was no chemistry between Johnny and Baby. It was actually uncomfortable to listen to the dialogue between them. Look at this picture below.

Josef Brown who plays Johnny is as cold as ice. He almost sounded like the terminator in some parts. He’s also so clearly not from around here … the accent cannot be Americanized. They should of just changed the script to make him be from Australia. He is an amazing dancer but more of a ballet dancer. I found his "dirty dancing" to be weird, gross and not hot. There is nothing manly about him and he wears no shirt the whole show. He's not attractive due to the fact he is stiff, old, and girlie. He shows no emotion through the whole show. He is exactly the same in every scene regardless of what is going on. I can't imagine any young girl or women for that matter being attracted to him.



Amanda Leigh Cobb plays Baby in the show. She is vulnerable, geeky and looks pretty close to Jennifer Grey who played Baby in the movie. She had potential but it was killed by her boring wooden co-star Josef Brown. She lacked showing any passion or real feelings towards Johnny. When he leaves after being fired their good bye scene is just comical. No kiss, no hug, nothing!

I did enjoy the show, how could I not... the scenery was amazing, tons of effects, and all the same great music.
I did close my eyes and picture Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey at some points!
